When Diets and Traditional Methods No Longer Deliver Lasting Results

For many patients, obesity is not simply about willpower.

Long-term weight struggles are often driven by biological, metabolic, and hormonal factors that diet programs alone cannot fix.

Bariatric surgery provides a medically proven solution when traditional methods stop delivering lasting results.

This is not about failure, this is about finally finding the right solution.

Real Patient Results

Our patients have experienced life-changing results through expert bariatric care, including significant weight loss and improvements in diabetes, sleep apnea, blood pressure, mobility, and overall quality of life.

Individual results vary. Many patients lose 60–80% of excess body weight depending on procedure and lifestyle changes.

Gastric Sleeve

Gastric Sleeve

+

Gastric sleeve surgery is one of the most common and effective bariatric procedures for long-term weight loss. Gastric Sleeve Revision

Gastric Sleeve Revision

Meet Dr. Jamokay P. Taylor

20 Years of High-Quality Care

The Hair Restoration Center in Alexandria, Virginia

Hi, I’m Dr. Jamokay P. Taylor.

When patients come to see me, they’re often feeling frustrated, discouraged, and unsure about their next step. Many have tried diet programs, medications, and other approaches for years without lasting success. My goal is to help them understand their options and guide them safely toward a healthier future.

I am a board-certified bariatric surgeon and Center of Excellence provider with more than 20 years of surgical experience. Today, I dedicate 100% of my practice to bariatric surgery and the care of bariatric patients. Over the course of my career, I have performed thousands of weight loss procedures, helping patients regain their health, confidence, and quality of life.

My interest in bariatric surgery began during my surgical residency at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center, where I served as Chief Resident. During that time, I saw firsthand how powerful bariatric surgery could be—not just for weight loss, but for improving serious health conditions like diabetes, sleep apnea, and high blood pressure. Seeing those life-changing results inspired me to dedicate my career to this field.

Today I serve as the Medical Director of Taylor Bariatric Institute, a comprehensive bariatric surgery center focused entirely on helping patients achieve safe, lasting weight loss. Our program works in partnership with Barix Clinics, a nationally recognized Bariatric Center of Excellence that has performed tens of thousands of bariatric procedures.

What makes our program unique is that patients are never alone in their journey. In addition to surgical care, our team includes dietitians, nurses, psychologists, patient advocates, and medical specialists who support patients before and after surgery. Long-term success requires more than a procedure—it requires education, support, and ongoing care.

I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. I remain actively involved in several professional organizations dedicated to advancing bariatric care.

For me, the most rewarding part of my work is seeing patients regain control of their health and their lives. Whether someone is considering bariatric surgery for the first time or exploring revision surgery, my goal is always the same: to provide safe, expert care and help patients achieve lasting weight loss and better health.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you take the next step in your weight loss journey.
